Day 1
Welcome Reception and Orientation Day One – St. Mark’s Square, and Venice Orientation. After settling in, we will meet together and have some snacks, then we are out to see Venice! First we will visit the picturesque San Giorgio Maggiore, and will go up its bell tower (via its elevator) for a magnificent view of Venice. We will then walk learn about three of our Beautiful Women in Venice and visit their locations. We will also visit the indescribable Aqua Alta Bookshop with its stairs made from books and its many cats. As we walk we can visit a couple of churches including the one where Vivaldi was baptized. We will also make a wish on a magical red brick heart (these wishes always come true by the end of the year!) We will relax in the famous St. Mark’s Square, and enjoy a toast while being serenaded by an orchestra, and then we will go to dinner. Airport transfers, dinner, and toast all included.

Day 2
Picturesque Walking Tour Day two will be a full, busy walking day. We will be walking most of the day through the Dorsoduro area and will have plenty of time and locations to take lots of photos.  We will learn about 6 more historic Beautiful Women in Venice and see sights related to them.  We will see and hear about many famous palazzi (Venetian palaces) on the Grand Canal and tour some amazing churches.  After having lunch at a former brothel for the nobility, we will tour Ca Rezonico, a museum of 18th century rooms and furnishings. We will visit the Gesuiti Church, the stunning Frari Church and the famous and picturesque Salute Church and many fun curiosities along the way.  We will relax together at the end of our day for a Vivaldi dinner of fresh locally crafted pasta while listening to Vivaldi’s music.  It also is a great time to plan your day tomorrow.  All meals, museum passes and tours included.

Day 3
Independent Day  Do whatever you wish with as much or as little guidance as you like.  Rest up, wander the lovely cobblestones, or see some breathtaking sights.  Suggested activities are self-guided tour of the Doge’s Palace and St. Mark’s Basilica, Correr Museum.I will be there to help you plan your day.  Lunch and dinner this day will be on your own, but by now you will be a pro at ordering at restaurants.  All applicable passes, and self guided tours are included.

Day 4
Verona Day Trip Today we will take the train to Verona, the mythical city of Romeo and Juliet.  Verona is a lovely city, and was once a Venetian territory.  It boasts the third largest coliseum in the world!  And this one is resplendent in pink marble!  Here we will enjoy a walking tour as well as lunch together.  There is also some nice shopping to be done if you like.  We can stay in Verona as long as you all wish and can explore as much of this lovely city as you wish.  We will have dinner together back in Venice, unless we are still lingering in Verona, the choice will be yours at the time.  Train tickets, tour, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 5
The Women’s Choices Walk, Gondola Ride and Ghost Tour at Night  Today we will tour the San Polo area. We will learn about Venices prostitutes and her famous courtesans while we walk through what was considered the Red Light District of their day.  Sights include the famous Ponte de la Tette.  After that we will tour the Clothing and Perfume Museum.  We will learn about more amazing historic women and also some fun facts about the Rialto Bridge and see some fun curiosities nearby.  Then we will visit a casino, or private pleasure apartment, with several secret exits.  We end our day with a relaxing gondola ride.  The night before we will discuss several options for the structure of this day and you will decide the order we do things. Later we will meet for dinner, then once it is dark we will set off for a Walking Ghost Tour. Boat passes, lunch, dinner, and tour included.

Day 6
Flexible Independent Day  This is a catch up day and you will receive as much or as little guidance as you like.  Suggestions include other museums, mask painting, and shopping.  You might even set out on a guided – or even an unguided walk!  Venice is wonderful and very safe to wander and explore.  It is my favorite thing to do there, just to walk with no plan and see what I find.  I will be there of course to help you with any plans, and lunch and dinner this day are again on your own.

Day 7
Boat Trip to Murano and Burano Today we will stroll through the historic Jewish Ghetto and learn about these hard working and inspiring people including yet another of our women on our way to the boat dock. Then we will take the boat to Murano, the island of glass blowers, where we will visit the Church of Santa Maria e San Donato and the dragon bones of the dragon slayed by San Donato. We will also see some glass artisans practice their craft. After that we will take the boat to Burano with its pastel colored houses and intricately crafted lace. We can pace this day as you wish to include any last minute shopping. We will all meet tonight for our farewell dinner.
